Notes from
building it.

How the checks work, what we measured, and what we got wrong. Written for the person who has to defend the decision internally.

How we write

Four rules you can hold us to.

The same rules the rest of this site is written under.

A number never travels alone

Every figure we publish carries the sample it was measured on and the date it was measured, in the same sentence. Split apart, an impressive number outlives the basis that justified it.

No arithmetic on your behalf

We do not average, aggregate or re-base a measurement to make a better headline. Where two of our own numbers count different things, we say so instead of dividing them.

Nothing borrowed from a customer

No customer quote, no customer audit result, no outcome attributed to a plant. Every figure here is an internal engineering benchmark and is labelled as one.

We correct in place, and say what changed

When a published note turns out to be wrong, we fix it where it stands and say what changed. Nothing gets quietly deleted.
